Sneaking around was something Jared did often. He had trouble sleeping sometimes, so he spent most of his nights wandering around the school. It was better at night. There was nobody around. It was… peaceful. There was nobody around to yell at him. There were no students around. The halls were empty. Jared always made sure he walked around when the prefects had completed their rounds for the day.

So here he was, walking along the third floor corridor about half an hour before he had to meet Michelle in the guest suites. At the thought of her, a smile crossed his face. He considered himself extremely lucky to have Michelle in his life. For the first few months of them dating, Jared had pretty much convinced himself that he wasn’t good enough for Michelle. She was this rich, incredibly famous witch. He was… well, pretty much a no one. Gabrielle had wasted no time in telling Jared that if he hurt Michelle, he would have to answer to her. Jared wasn’t exactly scared of Gabrielle, but knowing who her parents were intimidated him somewhat. Not that Jared had any plans to hurt Michelle.

As he wandered along the third floor corridor, he passed the entrance to the Aramia common room. As he passed, he could hear scratching and whimpering on the other side. Rolling his eyes, Jared muttered the password, and the entrance swung open. Sure enough, there was Boomer, the little beagle puppy his parents had gotten him for making it to the seventh year. Jared knew he wouldn’t be able to leave the little dog by itself while he went out and saw Michelle. And he doubted Michelle would mind him bringing the little puppy along. She loved the puppy, anyway. With a small smile, Jared bent down to pick Boomer up. It was about time to meet her, anyway.

Jared found the stairs to get up to the fourth floor, and walked slowly up them. Boomer was struggling in his arms to get down, but Jared knew the minute that puppy hit the floor, he would be gone. Jared tightened his grip and walked down the fourth floor corridor until he found the guest suites. Pushing the door to one of the guest suites open, Jared placed Boomer down and quickly shut the door. Boomer was off, sniffing every bit of furniture in the room. Jared sank into a couch, and waited.

Michelle was happy. She had spent most of the evening hanging sticky notes and fabric around her room with two of her best friends, and now she was going to be able to spend time with Jared. The day couldn't get much better. She missed spending time with Jared. With her in Africa for most of the summer break, they hadn't had much of a chance to hang out then. Now, as the whole school was finally back into the routine of school, being able to take a night off and spend it with him would be easy. Plus they were sneaking around, which always added to the excitement of being together.

She hadn't bothered to dress up. She fully expect Jared to still be in jeans and a shirt, but messing around with fabric and feathery boas had made her want to be in pajamas. So now, she was still in her pajama bottoms and a simple white shirt while she left the othello commons and made her way to the ivory stairs. It was quiet. Empty. Nice. She loved the hallways late at night, even if she wasn't supposed to be in them. Who wouldn't love them though. Without all the kids running around you could really enjoy the colors and the...prettiness of it all.

Michelle passed the Aramia floor, smiling slightly at the color. Every time she saw the Aramia green she thought of Jared. She wasn't entirely sure why a seventh year would want to be with a young sixth year, but she wasn't going to start asking questions about it. Jared had become one of her favorite people in the school, next to Gabrielle of course. She couldn't think of what she'd do if she wasn't at least friends with him. He was great, smart, funny. Amazing. She finally reached the forth floor and she made her way across it to the guest suites. She pushed open the first door, to the little hallway, then made her way to the only door with a light on. She smiled and pushed it open, first sticking her head in to look around, but when she noticed the little dog, she pushed the rest of herself in and shut the door firmly behind her. She kneeled down briefly to pet Boomer on the head, before looking over to the couch. "Hey you." She smiled widely before glancing back down to the puppy. It was obviously enjoying having it's head petted. Though after a couple more seconds it got bored and hurried away, so she let her gave fall back onto the guy sitting about six feet from her. She pulled herself off the ground and finally made it over to him. She let herself down onto the couch, close enough to be touching him, but not to be sitting on him. She nodded towards Boomer. "You couldn't leave him all alone huh?"

Jared had occupied himself with watching Boomer run around the room like a maniac. Boomer had never really been out of the Aramia commons, except when Jared decided to take him outside. And even then the little puppy spent most of the time running around in circles chasing his own tail. Jared was sure the puppy had been dropped on its head at some point. Why else would it be more interested in its tail than the world around it? As Jared watched, he saw Boomer hurry over to the door. Instinctively, Jared sat up, ready to chase the dog through the corridors if he managed to get out. A few seconds later, a familiar looking head poked into the room and looked around. After a moment, Michelle entered the room and closed the door firmly behind her. Jared remained silent as he watched Michelle pet Boomer.

“Hey you.” Even the sound of her voice had the ability to bring a smile to his face. He relaxed back into the couch as Michelle finally brought herself over to him. The minute she was sitting beside him, Jared wrapped his arms around her and pulled her so she was practically sitting on top of him. “You couldn’t leave him all alone huh?” Jared chuckled, watching Boomer examine the bed. “He was whining, and I didn’t want him waking up my dorm mates”, he said. Boomer barked as if to agree, and continued examining the bed. Jared gave Michelle a little squeeze, and rested his chin on the top of her head. “I feel like I haven’t seen you at all until now”, he said. “I missed you during the summer. What did you get up to?”

He knew from the letters she’d sent that she’d gone to Africa with Gabrielle, but he didn’t know what they’d done while they were there. He had read in the Daily Prophet that Voldemort had been spotted in Egypt. Jared had almost jumped on a plane that day, to go and find Michelle in Africa to make sure nothing had happened to her. His parents had managed to talk him out of it (after he’d already bought his plane ticket), saying that Michelle would be fine and that there were plenty of wizards around to protect her if Voldemort had in fact been spotted.

Michelle let her forehead rest against his neck, breathing in the soft scent of him. She would never get over being comfortable with him. It was nice, just being with someone without all the drama some guys bring. Some guys just pulled drama everywhere they went and after a couple months, that just got old. Boring. Not fun. If you couldn't have fun in a relationship, then what was the point? You had to be able to have fun doing the little things. Like sitting on a couch holding each other. Perfect. She let her own arms wrap around him and smiled as he talked. "Ha, I guess they don't enjoy little Boomer as much as some people do." In all honestly, Michelle absolutely love the little puppy. If she could she'd steal him and take care of him herself, but she knew Jared got it from his parents and that even if he did think there was something wrong with the dog, he still liked him.

She let her eyes close briefly as Jared gave her a little squeeze. "I missed you too. A lot. And I didn't really do much. Gabrielle and I just ran around Africa. Going one place, then deciding we wanted to be somewhere else, so we'd leave again. We didn't get much done." She laughed slightly. "How did your summer go? Flirt with any pretty girls?" She pulled back slightly, so she could smile at him. Letting him know she was just kidding. She knew he wouldn't do something silly like that. While they weren't able to see each other as often as they like, she knew she could trust him. And she did. With practically everything. When she got mad at Gabrielle (which didn't happen to often) she always went to him. He never acted like it was stupid or like it was unimportant. He always seemed to take what she said to heart. And she love it.

Jared smiled as Michelle told him how her summer had gone. It was just like her and Gabrielle to spend five seconds in one place and then decide to go somewhere else. Combined, Michelle and Gabrielle had the attention span of a gold fish. Jared was pretty sure that even though they’d gone to Africa, neither girl would be able to tell him much about their trip seeing as they had jumped from place to place every five seconds. But they’d had fun, and that was the main thing.

“How did your summer go? Flirt with any pretty girls?”

He decided to leave out the fact that he’d become so completely terrified of losing Michelle to Voldemort. He decided to leave out the fact that he’d planned on going to Africa, just to make sure she was ok. And he decided to leave out the fact that he’d actually bought a plane ticket. If his parents hadn’t intervened, Jared would have been right there with Gabrielle and Michelle. That wouldn’t have gone down well with Gabrielle. She had often made her dislike towards Jared quite known. She wasn’t afraid of showing her disgust to him. Jared figured it was all out of sibling love. Gabrielle was afraid that Jared would hurt her sister, her best friend.

Jared looked down at Michelle, at her smile. He smiled back. “You know I only ever flirt with pretty girls when you’re not around”, he joked. He liked that she was easygoing enough to be able to joke about things like that with him. He liked that Michelle knew him well enough to know that he would never hurt her. Michelle was the one person he could count on. He always went to her with his problems, and she would always sit and listen to what he had to say. And he always tried to do the same in return.

Michelle just shook her head and laughed again at his comment about only flirting with girls when she wasn't around. She knew he was kidding, and she loved it. How many couples could just joke around like them? She couldn't think of any. That was because they were cool and different and amazing. Yeah, okay they weren't perfect. They were far from it. They fought and got mad at each other, but they learned how to get over the little things quickly. They'd fight, spend a couple days away from each other, miss each other, and then finally talk about it. Without yelling (most of the time), without drama (usually) and without hurting each other (usually).

"Seriously though, You're summer went well?" It wasn't often Michelle was serious. Not many people saw her serious. Jared just happened to be one of the few. She only let this side show if it was needed. If she was comfortable with them. If she knew that the other person wouldn't laugh. She just wanted to know how his summer went. She knew he spent a lot of it at home, but he had to of have some kind of excitement. "You probably drove your parents crazy, huh?"

She let one of her hands run down his arm. "I really missed you, you know. A whole summer's just too long." The summer before hadn't of been as bad. They had at least been able to see each other a couple weekends here and there. Even a little time together had been better than none. She wasn't really sure how she had handled the entire summer away from him. She did know, however, that she had driven Gabrielle completely crazy with talking about him. Wondering what he was doing. Missing him. Talking about his letters. Writing letters back. Michelle had been pretty positive that if she had said Jared's name again Gabrielle would of tore her head off. But it was all okay. They were back at school. Back to where they could sneak off together and spend time alone.
